Local Broadcast Costs Continue to Go Up for Customers
If you are a cable TV customer, you must pay to have otherwise free local broadcast TV stations, like NBC or ABC, in your channel line-ups.
The reason? Local stations started charging cable TV providers and their customers for access to local channels. By 2020, the average satellite or cable customer can expect this fee, called a broadcast retransmission fee, to reach $20 or more per month.
If the local station’s fee demands are not met, they threaten to black out their station and tell you to complain to us, your cable TV provider. You’re either left without your favorite shows, or you get a higher bill.
We’re On Your Side
You shouldn’t have to cover their losses. As your cable TV provider, we protect our customers by negotiating on your behalf. Our goal is to help manage your monthly bill by fighting against excessive fee increases.
